This portal has launched to help the Scandinavian wireless industry become more accessible – both from within – and from outside Scandinavia. The Scandinavian region has since the start of the 80’s been acknowledged world wide, as the heart of the wireless industry.

The analogue mobile technology NMT 450 was created here and on September 7th 1987, the GSM vision was created when a whole group of operators from thirteen countries signed a MOU in Copenhagen. There were 15 signatures in total: France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Ireland and, from the UK, two independent operators - Cellnet and Racal-Vodafone.

Many of the leading companies in this field have their origins in Scandinavia – companies like Nokia and Ericsson. We believe that the Scandinavian region will also be playing a central role in the future wireless market. Even though the chances of someone starting a new Nokia or Ericsson is very limited, we believe that the heroes of the future will come from many smaller innovative companies that will team together in larger networks, letting their services and products become small hearts in a global industry that has simply continued to grow over the past 15 years.

On the Wireless Scandinavia portal companies can not only profile themselves in general, but also upload press releases and market activities related to events and news in the Scandinavia region, giving companies in all other parts of the world access to this information through one access point and helping companies world wide to use this portal to find and contact potential partners.

We hope that Wireless Scandinavia can help the Scandinavian wireless industry become even more visible to the rest of the world and thereby increase the possibilities of Scandinavian companies to be able to continue to play a central role within wireless technologies and services.

Wireless Scandinavia will help create new possibilities for mobile companies in the region. We will help attract knowledge, customers and partners, create networks and last but not least – attract financing.

We will actively work to help maximise visibility for the many exciting companies and products that are being developed within the wireless industry in this region. Wireless Scandinavia is a “one stop shop” for both the press and the players on the market for the latest news and knowledge about the Scandinavian wireless industry.
